Lovely Red Tail! We have them all over out here,,but just TRY!! to get a really good close-up!! They are very nervous,I think because sometimes farmers shoot at them!!!? YOu lucked out with one in your backyard???? WOW!! They must be pretty hungry to get so close!! Trying to nab your backyard birds?? Sometimes,I see a Sharp-Shinned,trying to grab my birdies,,but they are too smart for it and scatter in time! [Remember way back I got a photo of a youngster on my clothesline set-up?]..Happy Snapping!!:)

I'm jealous LOL I only have a Sharp-Shinned Hawk and a Cooper's Hawk visiting my yard. They're after juncoes and Mourning doves.
Used to have Red-tailed hawk pair that nested on the neighbor's acreage.
