I took a drive today down to the southern shores of New Jersey. The clean up from Sandy was still going strong. This is a collection of some of the photos I took. This is the house on the lake where one would rent waverunners, buy bait, etc. I have photographed this building many times. It is sad.

Very good photos, Jan. It gives us even more of a picture of the devastation than the news coverage has. Glad you have power at least. Stay warm!

I have been through 7 hurricanes on the Texas Gulf Coast; the worst were Carla in 1961 and Ike in 2008. The clean-up from Ike is still on-going. The recovery from big storms takes years. The thing that makes Sandy so bad is that it getting cold. Take heart - ya'll will recover.

Thank you very much Linda, Kathy, Wilma, Kathy, James, Susan and 36Bravo. They had a few days to clean up before I got to see it, and from the debris I saw (most of which I obviously didn't take photos of) it was horrendous. This was bothersome to me particularly because I vacation here every summer, and only a block and a half from where this photo was taken. I was going to venture to Atlantic City, but I saw enough devastation for one day.
