The ice was very thick and solid today. No noises! The sunrise wasn't super colorful but I thought this shot turned out pretty well anyway. I was using a bit of fill flash off to the side with a 1/2 CTO gel. I liked the effect. What do you think?

Thanks Max. I couldn't decide. The golden color on the ice is due to the sunrise not my flash.

Well,Larry, the golden color on the ice may have been from the sun, but the golden color on the deadwood was from your flash! Great shot, both in technical execution and creative composition. This is a 10+. Love it.

I would love to know what you think of the GIF. Somehow I must have disabled comments for that photo and I don't want to mess anything up by going back and reloading it. I had enough trouble figuring out how to get it there the first time. The GIF showes the breakup of the log.

I sure was spectacular. Even without my extra excitment. When it was over, I was kind of let down, like after a good fireworks show, I just wanted a little more.

About LarryD
LarryD I really enjoy this site. The wonderful photos I see here never cease to amaze, and inspire me. I look forward to reading the comments on my photos. I am inordinately pleased when I am awarded an Approvers Choice. I use Nikon equipment and am especially fond of macro photography. I continue to be astounded by the beauty in the miniature world visible though my lens. Additionally, I rarely have to venture very far to find interesting subjects. The Henry Doorly zoo is my favorite location. If you get to Omaha Nebraska. I highly recommend you spend some time at the zoo with your camera. Larry
