Caption: A spectacular meteor caught by the sky camera on the roof of Ladd Observatory at 3:23:30 AM EST on Jan. 19, 2012. The North Star is at the right, Mars is just to the left of the meteor, and Saturn is the bright one near the top left corner, Arcturus is at the top.

LaddObservatory

The Ladd Observatory at Brown University was dedicated in 1891 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Weather observations have been made at the Observatory starting in 1890. The observatory is currently open to the public, free of charge, on Tuesday evenings, weather permitting. Visit the website or call (401) 863-2323 for information about visiting.
