The trees were heavily coated with the fresh snow, but as soon as the sun's warm rays hit them, the warmth will cause the snow to slide off, and the branches will spring upwards once again.

I love the sound when those snowladen branches rid themselves of their burden, and PLOP! goes the snow! It's best not to be under such branches when this happens, or the unwitting interloper may get the PLOP deposited on the head or down the neck!!! - Julie in Ohio aka "Voice of Experience" :-)
