These old fence posts are remnants of the fence once used to prevent moose from crossing the narrow gauge railroad tracks that ran from intown Kennebunk to the Beach, and finally on to Cape Porpoise at the turn of the 20th century. The marshes were a favorite stomping ground for the gentle giants who were wont to wander onto the tracks!
