Wow these look so like our Little Owl, she too is an Athene also ahold nester. Though its holes are in trees, walls or rabbit burrows.

Congradulations on an excellent shot of very reclusive subjects.

While hiking here in NM, I've seen a burrowing owl's "hidey hole" but stayed away as not to bother the owl.

Enjoy the burrowing owls and your humor. Never saw anything like that. Recently watched a movie "A Good Year", I think, about bird enthusiasts who travel around North America sighting and recording as many different birds as possible. Sighting burrowing owls would make it a very good year.

About DesertNomad
DesertNomad Most of my work is found under the name Pat Goltz (with or without space) on various art sites. I have been doing art seriously for over ten years. In addition to photography, I do digital art, including fractals, abstracts, Hubisms, and digital landscapes. For fractals, I use Ultrafractal, Xenodream, or Apophysis. Most of my landscapes are done in Terragen. A Hubism is a type of abstract that is done in Bryce or Vue d'Esprit. In photography, I do mostly nature, including landscapes, flowers, birds, insects, and other subjects, as well as urban photography. I like to provide beauty, and my photography is for people who cannot go where I go, so that they may enjoy the beauty. Soli Deo Gloria.
