Dillon Reservoir, CO

Caption: This is a look back East at the storms I had just driven through. In front of me, it looked darker still and that proved to be true. It was almost like a night drive. Headlights and wipers on the whole way. It was sprinkling on me when I took this and by the time I got back on the highway it was raining hard. Vail Pass was the worst..the splashback from big trucks just covered my car and made me 'blind' for a few seconds...not fun, but it's hard for a Colorado person to complain about

The people driving the other direction were the
ones who had problems. There were places where
Eastbound traffic was stopped because of mudslides
that didn't get to the Westbound lanes (mine)
because of concrete barriers in the middle of the
highway. I always wondered what they were for. Now
I know. That was in DeBeque Canyon. On the highway
between Clifton and Delta, they had stopped traffic
in several places due to road flooding, but not
in my direction. I only had to drive through
water in one spot and it wasn't too deep, so it
was okay. Traffic was backed up for miles going
the other way.

That should read .....it's hard for a Colorado
person to complain about rain. Any rain is good
rain in my mind.
