Thanks!

And yep, it all kind of fell together, the bird standing alone on the shore, "Castaway on a lonely day".

I love pairing quotes with photos, but when this all just fell together, immodesty aside, I thought I just plain *nailed* it. :)

I don't often feel that way, but in this case, yep. :D

It just kinda bugs me, that whenever there's anything "going on" (storm, political crap, etc.), *EVERY* station carries the saaaaame thing, over and over.

Why not just have *one* station, call it TBC, The Boring Channel, carry all the political debates and storm-watches and wotnahell ever, and let normal people watch their stories?

Bloody Hell, I never got to see "Castle" last night...

But yeah, I later saw the blurb about the 50 homes in the sideways-chimney called Breezy Point. One caught fire, and the high winds in one direction acted like a fireplace + wind-tunnel and everything downwind also caught fire.

Thing is, I'm in the "middle" of everything. Middle of the island, so far from the water. Middle altitude of local geography, so not near the top of any hills (wind damage, but no flood damage) or bottom of any valleys (flood damage but no wind damage), so I kinda lucked out.

Irene was a big dud, and so was Sandy, praise B'harni (pbuh!). Phones, electricity, etc., all held up.

Some places along the shore, though, were pretty much levelled, and yeah, I'm well aware of that. But *here*, it's pretty much a sheltered area, and I just never got all worked up about anything.

Ummm, I'm here. I didn't hear *anything* about that, but then again, I'm all Sandied out, so turned off the "news" last night and haven't had it back on since.

Couldn't even watch my stories last night because of the nonstop "All Sandy, All The Time" news on every friggin' channel.

Ummm, yeah, I *think* so. :D

It's mostly been a non-event here, like the last hurricane. The rain's spotty, winds are gusty for sure, but all the row-houses here mostly protect each other from the wind.

What's got me worried is the flurry of power "flickers" that have my UPS clicking and beeping like crazy. I unplugged all my "sensitive" electronic goodies to keep them from getting fried, so that leaves just what I've got on this UPS (whups, there it goes again... another "flicker") to stay connected.

It's actually quite quiet and calm out now. No wind to speak of except the occasional whoosh.

Thanks and thanks!

Most of these kinda of shots, I just snap away like a crazed tourist, and hope to B'harni (pbuh!) some of the shots came out, or even at least *one* shot.

Bugs, birds, etc., they're just so fast moving that I hope to B'harni (pbuh!) that I have the camera settings set just so, that the camera can lock on and make the shot, and that my "aim" is right, and that autofocus locks on to the critter and *not* something in the background, etc.

Sometimes it all just comes together. :D

He (Tuomas) "writes from the heart", so I don't doubt it. A lot of their songs to this day I *still* get goosebumps listening to.

While I've never really been a fan of "cryptic" lyrics, when you just go grab the lyrics off a website and "study" them, you can often read *so much* into the lyrics he writes. "Ever Dream" is one of those songs. On first reading it sounds almost "happy", but there's a profound sadness under the surface.

(And yes, that *is* a Cap'n Jack Sparrow doll on the front of his keyboards.)

And this is the first time I've seen/heard them! :D Well, I'd *hear* them, but never see who was making those calls.

Right on yootoob you can get the entire "End of an Era" concert video, all 1.5hrs of it! Or just watch the individual vids piecemeal.

I was almost instantly hooked on Nightwish once I heard them, as musically they're fantastic, and Tarja's operatic voice is the perfect counterpoint.

Sadly, the rest of the band did her dirty right after that concert, in fact, by "dismissing" her and publishing on their website the letter(!!) they handed her. She never once badmouthed them, in fact was saddened and shocked that they did that rather than, like, *talking* about any issues they had, while she always took the high road, and while I'd expect a "he said, she said" about it, with truth being somewhere in the middle, I gotta say, all those actions spoke *way* louder than words, and I'm inclined to believe her side 100%.

Plus, she's got the voice of an angel, and is a major babe, too! :D

A lot of "metal" bands have the same sort of lineup, operatic female vocals on a {symphonic|gothic|thrash} metal platform. Eg, Lori Lewis from Therion, to a lesser extent Simone Simons from Epica. I'm almost positive Nightwish got that ball rolling, though. :D

They are quite the characters too Gene! They will act like they have a broken wing so that you will follow them AWAY from their nests that are made on the ground!

Listened to your music clip & even went searching for another song of hers. Different- with the mixture of the two musical styles.

Ah, that's what the critter happens to be?

I heard these eerie peeps, whoops, hard to describe their calls, and saw this him(?) by the water, and tried to sneak up sloooowly to get the shot.

Fast little critters, too, just like you said!

Thanks!

Would you do it with me?
Heal the scars, and change the stars.
Would you do it with me?
Turn loose the Heaven within.

I’d take you away,
Castaway on a lonely day.
Bosom for a teary cheek,
My song can but borrow your grace.

Ever felt away with me?
Just once that all I need,
Entwined in finding you one day.

Ever felt away without me?
My love, it lies so deep…
Ever dream of me?

Dream of me…

— Nightwish,  “Ever Dream”
