Thanks Heidrun for the comment! This is on top of the levee that protects our community from flooding from the river. The gates are there because they use to have cows on both sides of the levee. The man got tired of worrying about his cows when the river came up and there haven't been cows here for a very long time. They keep the cows off the levee, the reason for the two gates...having just a small area where they can cross over.
