Thanks for all the great comments and Thank You to the Approvers for the AC! This was really amazing to see and on the other side of the highway the ground was solid black with birds. If hubby wasn't with me, I would have stopped and got more pics and maybe some video. He wanted to get past them asap, lol.

It's great that you caught these photos! These are starlings and that they are flying in those ever-changing shapes? . . that's called Murmuration. I've seen this occur twice in real life, and it's spell-binding to view. If you do a search for Murmuration on YouTube or a search engine, you'll find several videos.

First time I saw it in person was in the rear view mirror of my car as I was speeding along the freeway. Heh, 'bout drove my car off the road, trying to watch out the front window as well as seeing that amazing event of nature behind me!

What a great photo, Delana. I've seen this phenomena several times in my life and it's mesmerizing to watch the birds do this beautiful dance. Congratulations!

Here's a link to a fantastic video showing murmuration in all of it's beauty! Just click on the word Murmuration! There are a few *still* photos in the beginning and then the video starts.

I'm wondering what these birds sense,
that we will soon experience?
COLD Perhaps?
Snow?
Ice?

They are fun to watch when they are all flying. I don't know how they all know which way to go to keep from running into each other. I didn't realize not everyone gets to see these birds doing their dance.
