I believe this shot was taken at an overlook called Caney Fork. The view is toward the south-southwest. The Smokies are at one end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, perhaps fifteen or twenty miles to the right (northwest). Smoky Mountain National Park straddles the line between North Carolina and Tennessee.

Is this part of the Smoky Mountains? No, they are in Tennessee. The sun's rays and distant haze just make them look that way.

Nice composition with the flowers and fall foliage in the foreground.
