Every year along many areas of the Oregon coast the ocean steadily gains ground. Neskowin Beach, shown here has lost over 100 yards of land in the past 30 years. When low tide conditions permit, the huge "ripp-rapp" boulders are set in place to resist any further inland erosion. During winter storms, the surf can smash over the top of these man made rock walls bringing logs and debris with it onto the land or buildings just behind them. It's quite spectacular to witness at high tide!

Great shot, in natures eyes our sea defences are only ever temporary.

About Bluesmaster
Bluesmaster Coastal Oregon has stolen my heart after over 50 years in central Ohio. The scenery here offers photo opportunities that I never thought possible. I enjoy hiking and taking photos along the way. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy shooting them. -- Randall
