Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 4:01 PM EDT on May 28, 2015

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
north central Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina...
northwestern Alleghany County in northwestern North Carolina...
southwestern Grayson County in southwestern Virginia...

* until 500 PM EDT

* at 359 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause ponding of water on roadways and
minor flooding in normally flood prone and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Mouth of Wilson...
Volney...
Grassy Creek...
Bridle Creek...
and Nella.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

When it is safe to do so... please send your reports of flooding...
including mudslides or Road closures... to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1... 8 6 6... 2 1 5... 4 3 2 4. Reports
and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
Blacksburg facebook Page and on twitter.
