Issued: 3:03 PM EST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect Snow Advisory in effect until 4 PM EST Saturday...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 10 PM this evening
to 10 am EST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a lake
effect Snow Advisory... which is in effect until 4 PM EST
Saturday.

* Wind chill... wind chills will dip below minus 10 this evening and
could get as low as minus 15 at times tonight. Wind chills may
briefly climb above minus 10 on Saturday but will fall back
below minus 10 Saturday night.

* Impacts... dangerous wind chills can result in frostbite or
hypothermia in just a few minutes. Frigid temperatures could
freeze water pipes. Snow covered roads and reduced visibility
during heavier snow showers and squalls.

* Winds... northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... lows tonight from zero to 5 above with highs
Saturday from 10 to 15 degrees. Lows Saturday night could be as
cold as minus 10 at traditional cold spots.

* Timing... a burst of snow will accompany the passage of a cold
front early this Evening. Lake effect snow bands will develop
behind the front overnight. The snow will continue into Saturday
before gradually diminishing Saturday night.

* Snow accumulations... from 3 to 5 inches are expected tonight
with an additional 2 to 3 on Saturday

Precautionary/preparedness actions... a Wind Chill Advisory is
issued when strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to
create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin. The wind will
make it feel like it is 10 degrees below zero or colder for a
period of several hours. If you will be outdoors use common sense
and dress warmly... making sure that all exposed skin is covered.
Stay tuned to weather radio for further details or updates.

In lake effect snow the weather can vary from locally heavy snow
in narrow bands to dry weather just a few miles away. If you will
be traveling across the region be prepared for rapid changes in
Road and visibility conditions. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio
for further details or updates.
