Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 8:53 PM EDT on July 04, 2015

The National Weather Service in Jackson KY has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
east central Laurel County in south central Kentucky...
west central Clay County in southeastern Kentucky...

* until 945 PM EDT

* at 851 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated nearly stationary showers
containing heavy rain. Up to three quarters of an inch of rain has
fallen across portions of the area since 8 PM. Up to another three
quarters of an inch is possible through 9:30 PM. Excessive runoff
will cause minor flooding of creeks and streams... roads... and
roadside culverts... particularly in low lying and poor drainage
areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pigeonroost... Cane Creek... Sasser... Lake... Bush and Blackwater.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
