Showers and thunderstorms will be concentrated over The Everglades and Lake Okeechobee areas this afternoon into the early evening. Movement of the showers and thunderstorms is to the north- northeast and some of these storms will affect Metro Palm Beach County and the beaches late this afternoon. Some of these storms are capable of producing very heavy rainfall leading to flooding, gusty winds in excess of 35 mph, frequent lightning and even small hail. Elsewhere across the area, mostly dry conditions are expected along the Collier County coast the remainder of the afternoon. Over the Miami and Fort Lauderdale Metro area and beaches, mainly dry conditions are also expected although a few showers are not out of the question.
