* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing... snow will be heavy at times this morning into the early
afternoon... then gradually taper off late this afternoon.

* Impacts... the combination of strong winds and heavy wet snow
will bring down tree limbs and power lines. Hazardous travel

and significant snow accumulations. Near blizzard conditions
are expected... especially out on The Forks and on Fishers
Island.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...

... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 am EST this
morning...
... High surf advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST Tuesday...
... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM to 11 PM
EST this evening...

* locations... coastal locations along the South Shore of
Queens... Nassau and Suffolk counties.

* Tidal departures... 2 1/2 to 3 feet above astronomical tides.

* Timing... moderate coastal flooding expected for this morning/S
high tide cycle. Minor coastal flooding expected for tonight/S
high tide cycle.

* Beach impacts... elevated water levels and large breaking waves
will likely result in areas of dune toe erosion and localized
overwashes for the Atlantic Ocean beaches.

* Coastal flood impacts... widespread flooding of vulnerable shore
roads and/or properties due to height of storm tide and/or wave
action this morning. Several Road closures are needed. Isolated
structural damage may be observed. This type of event is covered
by a coastal Flood Warning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
