Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, May 18, 2012. Active weather continues across parts of the Caribbean Sea on Friday as a trough of low pressure continues across the Yucatan Peninsula into the western basin. This system will support isolated to widely scattered moderate convective precipitation from parts of the Yucatan Peninsula through Honduras, the northwestern basin and western Cuba. Lighter precipitation is anticipated along the Nicaragua coast, while light to moderate showers continue in Costa Rica and Panama. Meanwhile, the trough of low pressure in the Yucatan Peninsula combined with high pressure in the western Atlantic will maintain moderate to fresh trade winds from east of the Leeward Islands through the central basin of the Caribbean. Moisture embedded within this system will kick up chances of showers and thunderstorms across the Antilles.
