Through Monday morning
The weather conditions will be favorable to a deterioration in air
quality.
We can all improve air quality by doing simple things, such as
limiting the use of fireplaces and wood-burning stoves and using
public transit.
Smog affects mostly Young asthmatic children and people with
respiratory or heart conditions. It is therefore recommended that
they avoid doing intense physical activity outdoors until the smog
warning is lifted.

Wood heating produces nearly 61% of smog-causing particles and
generates the largest number of such particles, followed by
Industrial activity (22%), car travel (14%) and other various sources
(3%).
This warning is issued jointly by Environment Canada, the ministere
du developpement durable, de l environnement et des parcs, the
ministere de la sante et des services sociaux, the direction de sante
publique de l agence de la sante et des services sociaux de Montreal
and the city of Montreal.
