Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, February 08, 2012. More snow is likely over Honshu as a strong storm departs the area and moves into the Pacific Ocean. A smaller storm will take its place, ushering moist air from the Sea of Japan into Honshu and acting on the cold air that is already in place. This will translate to more widespread snow from southern Honshu through Hokkaido.

Additional snow is possible over the Korean Peninsula, but this precipitation will not be as widespread as in Japan. Instead, the headline for the peninsula and adjacent areas of the Yellow Sea and Sea of Japan can expect frigid daytime temperatures due to starkly cold air that will plunge into the area from northern China and Siberia.

Typical showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop in the normal areas around the Philippines and Indonesia, but no tropical development is expected.

Tokyo will rise into the lower 60s(F)/upper 10s(C), while Shanghai will see temperatures in the lower 30s(F)/lower 0s(C). Seoul will rise into the lower 20s(F)/mid -0s(C).

For Australia, Tropical Cyclone Jasmine will remain well off the east coast on Wednesday and thus will not affect the country.

Instead, a cold front will continue moving along the east coast of the country, producing areas of rain and thunderstorms from Brisbane through Cairns in Queensland, while additional rain is likely around Sydney. This is not good news for areas of Queensland currently experiencing flooding as more is likely through Wednesday.

The rest of the country will remain dry, while warm to hot conditions are expected for inland areas of Western Australia.

Sydney will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C), while Melbourne will see temperatures in the upper 60s(F)/lower 20s(C). Brisbane will rise into the lower 80s(F)/upper 20s(C).
