Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

Wet weather continues in parts of Europe on Tuesday as a low pressure system spanning across the Baltic Sea drives several disturbances across the north. The low will begin the day centered over Denmark and will quickly reach eastward across the Baltic Sea. Ahead of this low, a pair of warm and cold fronts will lift northward through eastern Europe with ample moisture. Expect widely scattered light to moderate precipitation to develop ahead of these disturbances from the eastern parts of Belarus and the Ukraine through the Baltic States and into parts of western Russia. Behind the system, a cold front will extend northward through Norway an northern Denmark with light scattered showers. Areas near the western Norway coast will experience the brunt of this precipitation as an offshore low in the Norwegian Sea pumps moisture across the coast. Meanwhile to the south, a warm front associated with this system will extend southward from the low and southern Denmark through France. Sufficient moisture and energy ahead of this warm front will allow light scattered showers to develop in much of the western third of the mainland. A second weaker frontal disturbance will form ahead of this warm front, allowing precipitation to spread into the central countries of the mainland. Favorable lifting over the Alps will lead to isolated areas of moderate rains.

Further south, a trough of low pressure will extend across the eastern Mediterranean Sea and will support chances of light scattered showers from parts of southern Spain into northern Italy, near Rome.

Elsewhere, outside of a few light showers in the North West and Wales, generally dry and relatively calm conditions are anticipated across much of the British Isles as high pressure shifts eastward into the region.

About Weather in London, United Kingdom

Let's face it, London weather can be erratic. One moment it's warm and sunny and in an instant the clouds come rolling in to make it cold, wet, and drab. London doesn't experience the sudden highs and lows of extreme weather, but it can change often and without warning. This could be why Brits are enamored with the weather. On average, a Brit will spend 6 months of their life talking about the weather, so be prepared to have at least on weather conversation with a local.

Preparedness is the name of the game in London. Wearing warm layers you can shed off when temperatures warm-up is always recommended, as well as the compulsory umbrella. Rain in London can come on in an instant, even in the summer time. If you've forgotten your umbrella or didn't have room to pack on in your bag, don't worry. You can pick up a cheap one at just about any London high street shop. Finally, don't forget to wear good walking shoes. With so many sites to see, you may find yourself acting like a true Londoner---whom tend to walk almost everywhere. Many streets are cobbled and uneven and when the weather is bad public transportation gets crowded and it can be difficult to hail a taxi.

So what should you expect in a typical London weather forecast? It all depends on the season. Winter months (December to February) bring a wet cold to London. Although it rarely freezes or snows in London, you would be wise to have warm weather gear with you in case temperatures plummet. Average winter weather temperatures in London range between 6°C and 10°C. Spring months brings lots of variability to the weather in London. Temperatures average between 11°C and 15°C. The unpredictability of spring weather in London means you'd best bring a jacket when you go out. Summer weather in London can be bright and warm, but there's always the change of the occasional rainstorm. Temperatures average around 20°C, but have been known to get as high as 37°C. Finally, the weather forecast of London in Autumn (September to November) is very similar to spring months. Keep in mind that summer months in London have been known to run through September and winter will sometimes rear it's ugly head as early as November, so if you're traveling in those months to London make sure to bring warm clothes.
