Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:33 PM CDT on July 06, 2015

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northern Jackson County in southwestern Oklahoma...
northwestern Kiowa County in southwestern Oklahoma...
eastern Greer County in southwestern Oklahoma...

* until 1230 am CDT

* at 930 PM CDT... National Weather Service radar indicated heavy
rain that will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in the
advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen in the past hour
and additional rainfall of up to 1 to 2 inches will be possible in
the next hour.

* Some locations that will experience minor flooding include
Hobart... Mangum... Granite and Lone Wolf.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in
Norman.
