Nowcast | as of 8:45 PM MST on February 26, 2015

Through midnight MST...patches of light to occasionally moderate snow will be slowly increasing across much of the east half of New Mexico through the rest of the night. Patchy fog will also likely develop or otherwise linger over the Central Mountain chain and adjacent Highlands and plains. Visibilities may fall below one mile in snow and fog at times. Additional snow accumulations ranging from a half inch to around 2 inches are likely in the lower terrain with up to 3 inches or so in and just east of the Central Mountain chain. Gusty winds will continue through most passes and canyons within the Central Mountain chain. Motorists should expect to encounter winter driving conditions with slick and icy roads. Statement as of 6:49 PM MST on February 26, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until noon MST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until noon MST
Friday.

* Snow accumulations... snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are
possible.

* Timing... snow will become heavier and more widespread this
evening and persist into the overnight hours before decreasing
Friday morning.

* Winds... east to southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to
around 40 mph will impact the lower Rio Grande and upper
Tularosa valleys. Otherwise significant winds are not expected.

* Snow levels... temperatures will be cold enough for snow at all
locations.

* Local impacts... hazardous travel conditions are expected due to
snow covered and icy roads and reduced visibilities in falling
snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will primarily cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities.
