Statement as of 9:44 PM CST on December 21, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Tuesday night through late Thursday night... A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Tuesday night through late Thursday night. * Timing: the system could start causing problems across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa by late Tuesday night and continue through Thursday. * Snow accumulations: heavy snow could occur in northeast Nebraska Wednesday and Wednesday night. Significant snow is possible over the rest of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa from Wednesday night through Thursday. * Ice accumulations: ice accumulations from one tenth to one quarter of an inch are possible across portions of east central Nebraska... southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. * Winds: the wind will be increasing Wednesday night... and strong winds should continue into Friday. * Impacts: significant ice and snow accumulations are possible... along with reduced visibilities with blowing snow. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means that there is potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts for updates. |
