There is an enhanced risk of severe weather for parts of Texas, Louisiana, southern Arkansas, and Kansas. A slight risk of severe weather encompasses a wide area of the Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley as well. This means severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing strong wind, large hail, heavy rain, and the possibility of tornadoes into the evening.

Nowcast | as of 7:27 PM CDT on April 24, 2015

At 7:27 PM...National Weather Service Doppler radars detected scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms ongoing across east central and southeast Oklahoma...as well as portions of west central Arkansas. This activity continues to move off to the east northeast at around 45 mph. Through 9:00 PM...occasional showers will be possible for locations primarily along and south of an Ashland Oklahoma to Green Forest Arkansas line. Any thunderstorms that occur are most likely to impact far southeast Oklahoma...generally along and south of a Moyers to Big Cedar line. Most locations that are affected can expect light showers...resulting in average hourly rainfall of one tenth of an inch or less. Locally higher amounts up to one inch per hour will be possible where thunderstorms occur...along with the potential for small hail and brief gusty winds.
