Watches & Warnings

Winter Weather Advisory, Wind Chill Advisory
Issued: 3:37 AM EST Feb. 13, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 am this morning to
7 PM EST this evening...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 2 am to 10 am EST
Sunday...
... Winter Storm Warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 7 am this
morning to 7 PM EST this evening. The Winter Storm Warning has
been cancelled.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. The highest
amounts are expected at the southern edge of Penobscot County.

* Locations... interior Hancock and southern Penobscot County.

* Hazard types... snow today. Dangerously cold wind chills late
Saturday night into Sunday morning.

* Timing... snow will occur mostly this afternoon. Cold wind
chills are expected late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

* Impacts... snowfall will result in difficult driving conditions.
Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if not dressed
appropriately while outdoors.

* Winds... light northeast winds will become north 5 to 15 mph with
gusts up to 30 mph by late this afternoon through tonight.

* Temperatures... rising to the teens by afternoon and falling
below zero by late tonight.

* Visibilities... 1/4sm or less possible towards mid-afternoon as
a snow squall moves through the area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
