Watches & Warnings

Blizzard Warning
Issued: 11:08 AM CST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
6 PM CST Monday...

* timing... late this afternoon through Monday afternoon. The
severest conditions are expected to occur overnight tonight
into Monday morning.

* Storm total snow accumulations... generally less than 2 inches
but with locally higher amounts possible.

* Winds/visibility... northwest wind 25 to 35 mph with gusts to
near 50 mph at times. Visibilities look to drop below one
quarter mile for an extended period with near whiteout
conditions at times... particularly during falling snow showers.
In addition to the falling snow... the deep snow pack in place
potentially could break loose and aid in the blowing snow.

* Impacts... considerable blowing and drifting snow and restrictive
visibility will cause dangerous travel and even impossible in
some areas... especially in open or unprotected areas.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
