Issued: 2:09 PM EST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect Snow Advisory remains in effect until 1 am EST
Saturday...
... Wind chill warning remains in effect from 3 am Saturday to
7 PM EST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Burlington continues the lake
effect Snow Advisory... until 1 am EST Saturday.

* Locations... southern Saint Lawrence County.

* Hazard types... lake effect snow... moderate to heavy at
times... especially this evening.

* Accumulations... 3 to 7 inches of snow... with locally higher
amounts possible.

* Maximum snowfall rate... up to 1 inch per hour... mainly this
evening through midnight.

* Timing... scattered light to moderate lake effect snow showers
will continue across southwestern St. Lawrence County this
afternoon. The bands of lake effect snow will become heavier and
more organized this evening... through about midnight... before
shifting east and south of the area. Thereafter... dangerously
low wind chills are expected for the entire weekend.

* Impacts... difficult travel due to moderate snowfall
accumulating on roads as well as reduced visibilities.
Dangerously low wind chills are then expected during the
weekend.

* Winds... southwest 10 to 20 mph until midnight... becoming
northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph through Saturday
morning.

* Temperatures... highs around 20 this afternoon. Lows 10 to 15
below tonight. Highs 5 to 10 below for Saturday.

* Visibilities... a half mile or less at times late this afternoon
through midnight.

* Wind chill readings... as low as 39 below due to below zero
temperatures and northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30
mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and
strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This
will result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia or death if
precautions are not taken.

A lake effect Snow Advisory Means Lake-effect snow is forecast
that will make travel difficult in some areas. Lake-effect snow
showers typically align themselves in bands and will likely be
intense enough to drop several inches in localized areas. Use
caution when traveling.
