Winter Storm will continue impacting eastern New England through Monday night with a combination of heavy snow and strong winds, resulting in dangerous travel conditions. In parts of southeast Massachusetts, blizzard conditions are possible along with tree damage, some power outages and coastal flooding. As of late Monday morning, winds had gusted up to 57 mph on Nantucket Island and coastal flooding was reported in several locations along the Massachusetts coast.

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST
Tuesday...

* locations... coastal downeast.

* Snow accumulations... 5 to 9 inches.

* Timing... steady snow will continue into Tuesday morning then
taper off to snow showers during the afternoon.

* Impacts... snow with blowing and drifting snow will result in
travel difficulties with roads snow covered and slippery.
Visibilities reduced to less than one half of a mile at times.

* Winds... north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 35 mph this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.





Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 4:24 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to
noon EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to
noon EST Tuesday.

* Locations... coastal Washington and Hancock counties.

* Coastal flooding... overtopping of sea water over maximum
astronomical high tide positions mostly due to large wave runup
in areas exposed to large ocean waves.

* Timing... tonight through Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... overwash is possible at the time of high tide on
Tuesday. High tide will occur around 11 am Tuesday morning.
Deposit of small rocks are possible along stretches of affected
roadways.

* Locations... possible Road impacts in coastal Hancock county: seawall
Road... and in Seal Harbor and Winter Harbor. Possible roads in
coastal Washington county: Inner Harbor... Route 192 and low
lying roads along Machias Bay. Lastly... stay away from rock
jetties along Scenic ocean overlooks subject to large wave
action such as Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
