A large area of rain showers will continue to move across middle Tennessee late this afternoon. Some pockets of heavy rainfall will occur across areas north and east of Nashville. These heavy downpours will cause ponding of water on roadways. The area of rain will be lifting northward. Rain has already diminished across the southwest counties of the mid state...and the rain should taper off for the rest of the mid state by 7 PM...leaving only scattered light showers for the evening. Temperatures will drop sharply tonight...with a few snowflakes mixed with the scattered rain showers late tonight.
