Tropical Weather: Tropical Storm Alberto (North Atlantic) Post-Tropical Cyclone Aletta (East Pacific) Invest 92 (East Pacific)
Weather Summary
Weather Underground midday recap for Saturday, May 19, 2012. The tropical season got off to a bit of a fast start on Saturday as a tropical disturbance formed along the Carolina Coast. While nearly all of the rain from this disturbance fell off the coast, rain and thunderstorms may make their way into the Outer Banks of North Carolina into the evening. This disturbance could develop into a tropical storm over the next few days, thus residents should monitor its progress as it moves up the eastern seaboard. For more information on this system, please see http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/.

Meanwhile, a storm moved out of the Rockies and into the Plains. While only scattered showers and thunderstorms developed from this system by the early afternoon, there still remains the possibility of of severe thunderstorms forming in the Plains into the evening. Residents in the Plains should monitor local weather conditions and be prepared to take any precautions necessary against severe weather.

The West observed dry and mild to warm conditions as a high pressure system continued to dominate the area. A high pressure system also over the eastern third of the country kept the Northeast and much of the Southeast dry.

The Northeast rose into the 70s and 80s, while the Sotuheast saw temperatures in the 80s and some 90s. The Plains rose into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest saw temperatures into the 90s.
