Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, December 03, 2009.

The strong storm in the Southeast will continue to produce active weather as it advances northeastward on Thursday. Healthy moist flow from the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean will wrap around the system and fuel another round of light to moderate mixed precipitation across the Mid-Atlantic, the Ohio Valley, and the Northeast during the progression of this system. As the system reaches southeastern Canada, energy from this storm will also spread across the Upper Midwest, sparking areas of snow showers. Meanwhile, the tail of a cold front associated with this system will crank out rain showers and thunderstorms in southern Florida as the front exits into the Atlantic Ocean.

Behind this system, chilly and less active weather will persist in the central regions of the nation as a frigid ridge of high pressure drops into the Central US. Cold air flow associated with this system will drop temperatures to below seasonal averages from the Rockies through the Plains.

High pressure will also keep dry and quiet weather in place throughout the West on Thursday.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of -16 degrees at Yellowstone, Wyo. to a high of 90 degrees at Boca Raton, Fla.
