A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. Hot temperatures and high humidities will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of water... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors. You should also make sure that pets and livestock have access to fresh water.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a red flag warning... which is in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
Temperatures will again climb to around 110 degrees in west central and northwest Oklahoma. Humidity will drop as low as 12 to 15 percent this afternoon. Winds will turn from west to southwest... at speeds averaging 15 to 20 mph... with frequent gusts over 25 mph. Isolated thunderstorms may form near Ellis... Woodward... and major counties early this evening... resulting in some dry lightning and erratic winds.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
