regional weather discussion... Very hot weather will continue region wide. At 2 PM...aside from a few southeastern Oklahoma stations in the upper 90s...most locations reported at least 100 degrees. The hottest temperature was observed at the Kingfisher site of the Oklahoma mesonet...at 107 degrees. Upper level high pressure remained centered over the Texas Panhandle...while an upper level trough...and cooler weather was in place over the Central Plains and Midwest states. The boundary between these two weather regimes was marked by a cold front running from southwest Missouri across far southern and western Kansas. South of the front...in Oklahoma and western North Texas...winds were from the west to southwest...averaging 10 to 15 mph in most areas. Western Oklahoma had experienced more frequent gusts above 20 mph...and this will continue until mid evening.
