Now
regional weather discussion... scattered showers and thunderstorms will affect portions of northwest Oklahoma through midnight. Showers and thunderstorms that developed in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles will continue to move east and northeast into parts of northwest Oklahoma. Most of the activity will affect locations northwest of a line from Cheyenne... to Waynoka and Alva. Brief heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning will be the main concern with these storms. Small hail and gusty winds will also be possible with any strong storms. Meanwhile... a large area of showers and thunderstorms continues to develop across northern and central portions of Kansas near and behind a cold front. This front and the associated storms will approach and possibly move into parts of northern Oklahoma by early Saturday morning. So showers and thunderstorms will remain possible across portions of northern and west central Oklahoma overnight. Otherwise... conditions will remain warm overnight across the area with lows mainly in the mid to upper 70s. Clouds will also continue to stream across the region tonight. As the front moves south across the area on Saturday the rain chances will also increase areawide.

... Hot weather with a chance for storms this Fourth of July...
A cold front located across Kansas Friday evening will move south into northern Oklahoma by midday on the Fourth of July... likely reaching central Oklahoma by early Saturday evening. The front is expected to move through the Red River valley and western North Texas late Saturday night.
Slightly cooler weather will spread into northern Oklahoma behind the front... while to the south... triple digit heat is expected over southern Oklahoma and western North Texas. Meanwhile... heat index values will likely reach or exceed 105 across most of south central and southeast Oklahoma... and parts of western North Texas. Those celebrating the Holiday with outdoor activities should take extra precautions to guard against heat-related illnesses and sunburn.
It also appears several locations could see some natural firework displays in the form of lightning as scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop near and north of the cold front during the afternoon and nighttime hours. In addition to cloud to ground lightning... a few of the storms could also produce severe weather. If you will be outside this Holiday... stay aware of the weather... especially if you plan to be out on area lakes.
Temperatures will not be as hot on Sunday as highs will range in the mid 80s to lower 90s behind the front. Scattered thunderstorms will continue to be possible mainly across the southern half of Oklahoma and over western North Texas.
