The heat advisory is now in effect until 6 PM EDT Monday.
High temperatures reached the lower to mid 90s and humidities
reached from 45 to 55 percent this afternoon. This caused heat
index values in the mid to upper 90s across most of the
region... except right along our Atlantic Ocean shores.
As a weak cold front approaches the region... it will stall and
become nearly stationary near the area on Monday.
With abundant low level moisture and place... temperatures are
forecast to rise once again into the lower 90s. Heat index values
will rise once again into the lower and mid 90s during Monday
afternoon under partly sunny skies.
A heat advisory is issued for New York City when the heat and
humidity combine to produce heat index values of at least
95 degrees for more than one day. Drink plenty of fluids... stay
in an air conditioned environment... stay out of the sun... and
check up on relatives and neighbors.
