The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
central Socorro County in central New Mexico...
southwestern Torrance County in central New Mexico...

* until 700 PM MDT

* at 455 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to a nearly stationary line of thunderstorms
extending from about 15 miles south of Mountainair to about 10
miles east of the Bosque del Apache wildlife Refuge. Over an inch
of rain is estimated to have fallen with the strongest of these
storms.

Drainages mostly near and west of Chupadera Arroyo to the Rio
Grande will be most impacted.

Arroyos may flood or run near bankfull quite some distance from
heavy rain producing thunderstorms. Use caution when approaching
flooded low water crossings and do not try to cross water of
unknown depth.

western Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...
east central Torrance County in central New Mexico...

* until 630 PM MDT

* at 458 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to a line of thunderstorms from east of Anton
Chico and Milagro to near Vaughn and Duran. Rainfall amounts
could exceed one inch in 30 minutes with these storms.

* Locations impacted include...
Santa Rosa... Vaughn... Pastura... Santa Rosa Lake State Park...
Colonias... Pintada and Duran.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between mile markers 248 and 275.
Highway 285 between mile markers 192 and 204.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

* at 438 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to a nearly stationary line of thunderstorms from
about 10 miles south of Albuquerque to 5 miles west of Manzano.
Nearly an inch to an inch and a quarter of rain is estimated to
have fallen since 330 PM MDT.

* Locations impacted include...
southeastern Albuquerque... Valencia... Bosque Farms... Manzano
mountain State Park... Meadow Lake... Torreon... Tajique... Manzano...
El Cerro mission and Peralta.

This includes Interstate 40 near mile marker 168.

Other locations affected include the following locations
Capilla Peak campground... Fourth of July campground... New Canyon
campground... Red Canyon campground... Tajique campground... and Pine
Shadows trailhead.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings.
Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may
travel many miles and take hours to reach
your location from upstream rain areas.

Do not Camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in
steep... narrow canyons.
