Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:12 PM EDT on March 21, 2010
... Flood Watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon through
Tuesday afternoon...
The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York...
including the following areas... in northeast New Jersey...
Bergen... eastern Passaic... Essex... Hudson... Union and western
Passaic. In southeast New York... Orange and Rockland.
* From Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon
* one to one and one half inches of rain... with locally higher
amounts... is expected across the watch area from Monday into
early Tuesday. The heaviest rain is expected from late Monday
afternoon through Monday night.
* With river levels across northeast New Jersey and portions of
the lower Hudson Valley running relatively high... this rainfall
could bring these rivers and small streams to flood stage.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
