Statement as of 1:08 PM EDT on July 04, 2009 ... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 145 PM EDT for northeastern Merrimack and southern Belknap counties... At 107 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail. This storm was located near Northfield... or near Franklin... moving east at 20 mph. Law enforcement reported quarter sized hail with this storm in Franklin. Some locations in the warning include but are not limited to Canterbury... Lochmere... Laconia... Belmont... Gilmanton... Pittsfield and Barnstead. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Please report hail or strong winds to the National Weather Service by calling toll free... 1-877-633-6772... when you can do so safely. Lat... Lon 4353 7124 4329 7128 4336 7180 4354 7178 time... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm centered about 4 miles west of Franklin... moving east at 25 mph. This strong thunderstorm will affect areas in and around hill... Andover... Salisbury... West Franklin... Tilton... Sanbornton... Tilton-Northfield... Northfield and Lochmere through 145 PM EDT. Hail up to one half inch in diameter... cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty winds to 45 mph can be expected. In addition... as much as three-quarters of an inch of rain may fall in less than 30 minutes. This much rain may result in localized street flooding and flooding of low lying areas. |
