Statement as of 10:33 PM CDT on May 19, 2013

the Souris river near Bantry.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:00 PM Sunday the stage was 11.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river level will fall to below flood stage Monday then
is forecast to rise back into minor flood stage by Thursday night.
* Impact... at 11.5 feet... water begins crossing the Road several
hundred feet to the left of the bridge. No towns or major roads are
flooded.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Souris river near Towner.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 52.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to remain
below flood stage Monday... then rise to minor flood stage by
early Wednesday.
* Impact... at 53.0 feet... no significant flood problems.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north central North Dakota... northwest North
Dakota... south central North Dakota... southeast North Dakota
and southwest North Dakota... including the following
counties... in north central North Dakota... Bottineau...
McHenry... Pierce... Renville... Rolette and Ward. In northwest
North Dakota... Burke... Divide... McKenzie... Mountrail and
Williams. In south central North Dakota... Burleigh... Emmons...
Grant... Kidder... McLean... Mercer... Morton... Oliver...
Sheridan... Sioux and Wells. In southeast North Dakota...
Dickey... Foster... La Moure... Logan... McIntosh and Stutsman. In
southwest North Dakota... Adams... Billings... Bowman... Dunn...
Golden Valley... Hettinger... slope and Stark.

* Through Tuesday morning

* additional one to one and a half inches of rain.

* Many areas in the watch have already received two to four inches
of rainfall during the past three days.

* Additional rainfall may cause flooding near small streams and
low lying areas... and further rises on some rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding. Monitor
forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living
in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to move to higher
ground should flooding develop.




Wind Advisory

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 am CDT /midnight MDT/
Tuesday...

* timing... through Monday evening.

* Winds... north to northeast winds around 30 mph with peak gusts
around 45 mph at times.

* Impacts... strong winds will make working outdoors on elevated
structures or driving high profile vehicles difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph... and
or gusts under 58 mph... are expected. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.

... Summary of flood products as of Monday morning...

Flood Watch for all of western and central North Dakota through
Tuesday morning. An additional one to one and a half inches of
rain is possible on top of what has already fallen across the area
since Thursday. Minor overland flooding is possible in addition to
river and stream rises.

Flood warnings are in effect for these areas...

In the Souris river basin...

For the Souris river near Towner... minor flooding is forecast.

For the Souris river near Bantry... minor flooding is occurring.

For the Souris river near Westhope... moderate flooding through
the week.

In the James River basin...

For the Pipestem creek near Pingree... minor flooding is expected
by Tuesday.
