At 300 PM EDT...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated an developing thunderstorms between Rocky Mount and Fayetteville...moving southeast at 25 mph. At the current pace...these storms will reach the coastal plains by 330 PM and Greenville by 345 PM...Kinston by 400 PM...and Pink Hill by 415 PM. Additional developing showers north of the Albemarle sounds could move into areas north of Highway 64 from Williamston to the northern Outer Banks through 400 PM. This activity will be scattered with most areas remaining dry. However for those areas impacted...wind gusts to 30 mph...brief heavy downpours...and frequent cloud to ground lightning are possible. If you hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move into a safe shelter before these storms reach your area. Remain indoors until the storms have passed.
