Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, June 02, 2012.

A low pressure system moves over the Great Lakes and into eastern Canada and pushes a cold front off the East Coast on Saturday. This system will linger over the Northeast and New England, producing scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms will turn severe with strong winds and large hail. Expect heavy rainfall to develop across the Northeast with rainfall totals up to 2 inches, over 2 inches are likely in areas of severe weather development. Behind this system, a ridge of high pressure builds over the Mississippi River Valley and brings dry and mild weather to the Eastern Valleys.

Meanwhile out West, a trough of low pressure extends into the Pacific Northwest from British Columbia. This kicks up widespread scattered rain showers across most of Washington and Oregon throughout the day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may pop up across the Northern and Central Rockies. However, these storms are not expected to turn severe due to limited available moisture.

In the Southwest, high pressure remains the dominant weather feature. This will keep southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico hot and dry. Thus, fire danger will remain high throughout the day.

Areal Flood Warning
Mobile & Email Alerts Statement as of 3:14 AM EDT on June 02, 2012

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for small streams in...
Frederick County in north central Maryland

* until 715 am EDT

* at 311 am EDT... numerous roads remain closed throughout the County
due to runoff from heavy rainfall yesterday. Gages indicate area
streams have crested overnight... and flood waters will continue to
recede early this morning.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.
