Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 5:08 AM CDT on March 19, 2010
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
7 PM CDT Saturday...
The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for hazardous winter weather... which is in
effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CDT Saturday.
* Timing... of the onset of the snow is around 4 PM this afternoon
around Russell... Ellsworth and Great Bend around 5 PM... and
Salina around 7 PM.
* Snow accumulations... will range from around 1 to 2 inches around
Russell... to 3 to 4 inches from Salina to Lyons.
* Impacts... winds will be sustained at 25 to 30 mph... with gusts
near 40 mph by late this afternoon and continue into the night.
This will result in considerable drifting of the wet snow. Some
slick spots may develop... especially during periods of heavier
snow.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of winter weather
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads
and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving.
