The Flood Warning continues for the Des Moines River at Estherville... or from the Iowa-Minnesota border... to near Wallingford. * Until further notice. * At 9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 9.4 feet... and rising slowly. * Flood stage is 7 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * Forecast... rise to 13.3 feet Friday afternoon... then begin falling.

	Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:55 PM CDT on March 16, 2010 ... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 am CDT Wednesday... The Flash Flood Watch continues for * portions of north central Iowa and northwest Iowa... including the following areas... in north central Iowa... Humboldt and Kossuth. In northwest Iowa... Emmet... Palo Alto and Pocahontas. * Until 7 am CDT Wednesday * the threat for flash flooding due to ice jams will continue across the upper Des Moines River basin. Additional ice jams have been reported across far southern Minnesota causing the threat of ice jam flooding to persist downstream. * The Des Moines River... along with the west and east Forks of the Des Moines River will continue to rise this week with the greatest ice jam flood potential from Humboldt and Dakota City upstream to the Minnesota border. Ice jam flash flooding may increase river levels several feet in only an hour or two... rising at a much faster rate than is presently occurring. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

03/16/2010 0111 PM 1 miles S of Estherville, Emmet County. Flash flood, reported by Emergency Mngr. Water continues to rise rapidly due to an ice jam on the West Fork of the Des Moines River south of Estherville. The Parkland areas near the river in Estherville are flooded. Low lying areas near the river are also flooded due to a second ice jam 2 miles north of Estherville.
