Statement as of 5:35 AM PST on November 25, 2009 ... Patchy fog in the central and southern San Joaquin Valley this morning... Patchy fog is again developing in the central and southern San Joaquin Valley this morning. At 530 am... the visibilities along the Highway 99 corridor near Atwater... and along the Highway 198 corridor near Hanford were locally one quarter mile or less. Elsewhere in the central and South Valley... visibilities were 2 miles or greater... but were variable as fog patches drift across the region. Fog will become more widespread toward daybreak as the air continues to cool. Drivers in the central and southern San Joaquin Valley should exercise caution during the morning commute. Slow down... leave extra distance between you and other vehicles... and be alert for rapidly changing visibilities. Major roads that will be affected by the patchy fog will include highways 41... 43... 99... 152 and 198. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio... or your favorite news source... for updates on this situation.
