A large area of rain with embedded thunderstorms...will continue to move northeast across the midsouth this afternoon. Through 5 PM CST...heavy downpours associated with the thunderstorms can easily produce an inch of rain in a half of an hour. This will certainly cause ponding of water on the roadways...with small creeks and streams filling rapidly. In addition...there will be multiple cells training over the same locations...allowing for widespread areas of one to three inches of rain across the region.
