At 11:30 am...National Weather Service radars continued to indicate showers and thunderstorms affecting eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The activity was located north of Interstate 40. The strongest storms were located from Weddington to Stigler. Movement was to the east at 30 miles an hour. Through 1 PM...showers and thunderstorms will continue to push eastward and affect portions of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas...mainly north and west of a Berryville...to Fort Smith...to McAlester line. The strongest storms will occur in an area from Fayetteville...to Sallisaw...to Poteau. Brief heavy downpours and dangerous cloud to ground lightning will accompany any of the stronger storms. Rainfall totals through 1 PM could reach one inch in a few localized areas. Most locations should see from one quarter to one half inch of rain.

* at 1221 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing penny size hail and winds to 60 mph. This storm was located near Rudy... moving southeast at 20 mph.
* Some locations near the path of this storm include... Mountainburg... Alma... Dyer... Mulberry... Wiederkehr Village... branch and Ozark.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Stay indoors and away from windows until the storm has passed.
Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 1230 PM until 800 PM CDT.
Hail to 1.5 inches in diameter... thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.

In Oklahoma... Pushmataha... Choctaw... Okfuskee... Okmulgee... Muskogee... McIntosh... Sequoyah... Pittsburg... Haskell... Latimer and Le Flore.
Heat index values of around 105 degrees will be common this afternoon in areas south of a line from Okemah to Muskogee to Ozark. Areas near and north of Interstate 40 may see scattered thunderstorms develop this afternoon... possibly bringing relief by this afternoon. Areas to the south will continue to see hot temperatures into the evening hours. A cold front will move through tonight and bring much cooler temperatures Sunday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Persons spending time outside should lessen their activity... drink plenty of liquids... preferably water. Take frequent breaks and wear light colored... loose-fitting clothing. Strenuous activities should be reduced... eliminated or rescheduled to the coolest time of the day. Prolonged exposure combined with physical activity can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Never leave children or pets in a closed... parked vehicle! Temperatures inside can reach over 150 degrees quickly... resulting in heat stroke and death.
