An upper level low pressure system moving across the northern Gulf of Alaska from the east today will lead to a chance of thunderstorms over the northern Gulf and Prince William Sound areas this afternoon into this evening. Any thunderstorms that develop will be capable of producing frequent lightning strikes...gusty winds up to 30 knots...heavy downpours...and locally higher waves.
Vessels in these areas should exercise caution. Mariners caught on open water should stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
Please stay tuned to the latest National Weather Service forecasts for the most up-to-date weather information.
