Northwest gales to 40 kt becoming north storm force winds to 50 kt in the late morning and afternoon. Scattered rain and snow showers in the morning...then rain and snow showers likely in the afternoon. Waves 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft building to building to 15 to 20 ft occasionally to 25 ft by mid afternoon.
Tonight
North gales to 45 kt easing to 35 kt gales toward midnight...then to 30 kt toward daybreak. Rain and snow showers likely through the evening turning to snow after midnight. Waves 15 to 20 ft occasionally to 25 ft subsiding to 12 to 16 ft occasionally to 20 ft after midnight.
Saturday
North winds to 30 kt diminishing to 10 to 20 kt in the afternoon. Chance of rain and snow showers in the morning. Waves 10 to 14 ft occasionally to 18 ft subsiding to 6 to 9 ft occasionally to 11 ft in the afternoon.
Saturday Night
North winds 10 to 15 kt becoming southwest 5 to 10 kt after midnight. Mostly clear. Waves 5 to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft subsiding to 2 to 4 ft after midnight.

Commercial vessels should prepare for very strong winds and dangerous sea conditions...and consider remaining in port or taking shelter in port until winds and waves subside.
