Synopsis
Winds will become east then southeast and steadily build to around gale force late today and tonight in response to a deep area of low pressure approaching from the southwest. The area of low pressure will continue to move northeast and move inland along the Mississippi Alabama coast this evening giving way to a strong onshore flow through most of the night. East of the low a warm front will move northward towards the coast with strong to severe thunderstorms likely near the front and southward through most of the night. Seas are also expected to build to around 16 feet offshore late tonight with very rough conditions over inland bays and sounds. Total tide heights are also expected to range from 2 to 4 feet for most areas tonight and Wednesday from Destin to Pascagoula with 5 feet possible over some upper reaches of inland bays and sounds mainly west of Pensacola. Winds will become mostly west then northwest and gradually decrease late Wednesday into Thursday as the area of low pressure moves off to the northeast.

Northeast winds around 20 knots becoming east 20 to 25 knots in the late morning and early afternoon...then increasing to 25 to 30 knots late in the afternoon with gusts to gale force. Seas building to 6 to 8 feet. Scattered showers in the morning.

East winds around 30 knots becoming south around 35 knots late. Seas 7 to 10 feet building to 15 to 17 feet after late. Showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Wednesday
South winds 30 to 35 knots becoming southwest 25 to 30 knots in the late morning and early afternoon...then becoming west around 30 knots late in the afternoon. Seas 12 to 16 feet subsiding to 12 to 14 feet in the afternoon. Widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms in the morning...then chance of rain in the afternoon.

West winds 30 to 35 knots becoming northwest 25 to 30 knots after midnight. Seas 8 to 12 feet subsiding to 8 to 10 feet after midnight.

Northwest winds 20 to 25 knots decreasing to 15 to 20 knots early in the afternoon...then becoming north 10 to 15 knots late in the afternoon. Seas 7 to 9 feet subsiding to 4 to 6 feet in the afternoon.
